Steam 64UID: 76561197985451392 Timezone: EST (GMT-4) General Information How many hours a week can you dedicate to the KMD? I can dedicate 5+ hours a week to the Kamden County EMS/Fire Department
Are you in the State Police and applying to be a volunteer Firefighter/EMT? I am not in the State Police and trying to be a volunteer Firefighter/EMT
Why would you like to join the Kamdan Fire Department? (100 words minimum):
I would like to join the Kamdan Fire Department because I have a large amount of experience in the EMS career path over my time at different Islands. I feel that the Kamdan Fire Department is the heart of the Island and if the EMS team is active then you are able to help the rest of the residents continue about their life, no matter what their paths are. Civilians, Police Officers, and yes even gang members deserve the right to proper healthcare when their lives are ticking away as they lay there on the ground waiting to hear the sound of an ambulance coming to resuscitate them and get them back on their feet. And there is something great about knowing you are bringing them back to life…. Sometimes this means getting them back on their feet and on their way to jail or it means a second chance after being robbed and attacked by someone else. EMS do not see badges or gang logos, they see lives that are in jeopardy and they are putting their time in to make a difference. If the Island has a good EMS team then you get to see these situations flourish and expand into something that they may not have if they were not resuscitated. This is the reason they are the pulse of the Island.
What are your previous experiences with being in a FD/EMS? (If any):
I have been part of the FD/EMS communities on may islands and always look to expand my knowledge and experience whenever I find myself on a new island.
What makes a good EMT in your opinion? (100 words minimum):
What makes me a good EMT in my opinion is the fact that it is not about a paycheck or being immune, it is about an extra layer of interaction that comes with having a good EMT team on the Island. The idea that you control a life or death situation is something that is of great responsibility and a knowledgeable, unbiased individual is needed when arriving on a scene and having to make a quick judgement call on how to proceed. How to find out if a scene is code 4, how to interact with individuals who are still alive and talking in the situation, and how to deal with the individuals who are down and still need to be resuscitated.
All of the good characteristics of a good EMT expand from the ability to be patient and to see the larger picture. You are not just running in and picking someone up and moving on to the next person, you must fully understand their wounds, make sure you are interacting with them properly, and only moving on to the next downed person when it is the right time.
Not everyone will always make it out of a situation alive but that should not stop you from doing your job the right way.
Anything that you would like to add?:
I would just like to quickly say that what I have described as the good qualities in an EMT are some things I am very happy to say I have seen in the EMTs on this Island and I have had mostly positive experiences here.
Also, I can do, and actually prefer, flight so hopefully I can get around to that position or rank. (Is there a specific rank needed for flight?)
EDIT: I was clicking on older accepted applications to try and get a jump start on SOPs but I see there is an issue with the current SOP link? Can I get the new/working one?
Thank you for your time,
